What will it be like to grow and gather your own herbs and make your own plant medicines for healing?
Imagine opening your apothecary cabinet in your home and seeing jars of dried herbs and herbal tinctures, vinegars and oils that you grew, gathered and made yourself.
Imagine having a home first aid kit stocked with plant medicines that you know how to use to help your family and community when needed.
Learning these skills is EMPOWERING, and we invite you to join us for a 10-month journey through the seasons to make this vision a reality.
Over the 10 months, we explore wild and cultivated herbs, identification, how & when to plant, how & when to gather, and how to create many different herbal preparations and use them effectively.
We weave together ancient wisdom, current herbal practices and scientific research, incorporating the best of everything to help you become a confident and effective home herbalist.
The program is designed seasonally, so that each month focuses on what we are doing as home herbalists in our own homes and gardens, and we walk you through how to easily work it into your own life.
It is inspiring and motivating to connect with like-minded people, learning about the herbal gifts of the earth.
About the 10-month Home Herbalism virtual apprenticeship
The program begins in January and ends in October.
We strive to make this program as much like an in-person herbal apprenticeship as possible. Each month you will receive a package containing items like dried herbs, herbal kits, seeds, and other relevant items, depending on the season and the herbal lessons and preparations we will be covering that month.
Each month we walk you through interacting directly with the focus herbs for that month, helping you build relationships with the herbs and begin to trust your own insights into how the plants work.
The lessons are seasonal, incorporating what a home herbalist is naturally doing in that month:
- In winter months we use dried herbs to make teas, oils and salves;
- In spring we plant seeds and meet wild spring herbs;
- In summer we gather and make herbal preparations with fresh herbs;
- In autumn we collect seeds and dig roots.
You will also learn how and why to work with the cycles of the moon and the rhythms of Mother Earth.
In addition to professional-quality recorded lessons, we gather live on zoom monthly to check in, share a bonus lesson, and have time for questions and answers.
You will also have access to a private virtual (non-social-media) community where everyone enrolled can interact with one another and ask questions any time.
Join us as we journey together around the Wheel of the Year with herbs, respectfully using what we each can grow and what Mother Earth offers, honoring both the wisdom of the ancestors and current herbal usage and research.
Whether you are a beginner or a home herbalist wanting guidance in putting all the pieces together, this unique and comprehensive program will give you a practical foundation so you feel comfortable and confident growing and using herbs for yourself and your family every day.

What some of our students have to say...
This home herbalism class is one of the best things that I have ever done for myself and my family. Taking the leap to join the HH program has enriched my life so much, and in turn I have enriched the lives of my family members. We are all better because of what I have learned during my time in this class.
This program is SO affordable considering what’s provided. The option to pay monthly allowed me to fit this expense right into our family budget.
Nearing the end of the 10 months, I realize I think about everything so differently than I did a year ago. I walk through life with an appreciation for all life, especially every plant that I encounter. I no longer pass by a field and just see the earth, I see a home, a beginning, a future.
The knowing that I have now makes me feel stronger and more capable as a creature of momma earth.
I appreciated the community around all that we did.
Getting to know my teachers and classmates, being among those who are like-minded and working toward common goals felt SO great!! I wish there was a part two! I will continue to grow from the beautiful foundation that the Good Earth Herb School has so perfectly laid out for me.

The Home Herbalism program is extraordinary! I truly couldn’t have asked for better direction or more in-depth knowledge. They give you a base to work from and provide meaningful research to back up what they teach. I highly recommend this course to others looking to expand their knowledge of our good earth herbs. Thank you Tamara and Twila -- my herb notebook runneth over!
- Karen J.
The Home Herbalism program is a beautiful journey through the seasons. I have learned many practical things that have already helped to heal me and my family. The mother-daughter team is a wonderful plus, adding depth and dynamics. As we have met over the 10 months, we have grown together as we have learned and shared as a group. I HIGHLY recommend this class! It is worth every minute and penny invested!!

The Home Herbalism program has changed the way I think about and relate to plants. While deeply appreciative of the medicinal aspects, the spirit of the plant is the deeper medicine. It’s from a place of deep gratitude for this wisdom that I have learned the reasons and seasons to honor, collect, dry, tincture, drink and season food. Twila and Tamara have shared their collective 35+ years of herbal experience in a heartfelt, information-packed manner through handouts, samples, demonstrations and imagery.

This program gave me beautiful reasons to fall in love with my surroundings, slow down and enjoy the gifts of each season. When journaling with meditative herb assignments, I recognized that my intuitive nature with plants was stronger than I previously thought. My ability to sense the herbs and the way they affect my body was stronger when I allowed myself the time and space to feel it. I had never done that before. This made me more confident to play with herbs in my kitchen, garden, and healing practice. An unexpected joy was learning how to gather with intention from Mother Earth and thrive off of her abundance. I then taught my children how to forage and they shared information with their neighborhood friends. It’s been fun talking to those parents about the conversations our children are having regarding these gifts of nature.
Natural healing was a part of my lifestyle before I began this course. Incorporating herbs into every day through meals, drinks, and body care was never so personal until after the class began. And now as we are winding down, herbs are a part of my dreams, business, and future. Twila and Tamara have changed my world through sharing their craft. I am so grateful. Thank you.
- Juli J.
The Home Herbalism program has shown me so many ideas of how to use herbs in my everyday life. The camaraderie of learning together, widening my circle of herb friends has been an added gift to joining this class. Your time and love in developing and sharing these teachings is much appreciated and you both have been my herbal inspiration.

Herbs. Healing. Holistic. Heart-Warming Friends. Happiness. You will find all of these when you enroll in this program.

This program has exceeded my expectations. It is a valuable and soulful offering, and I have learned so much and feel completely empowered to continue my herbal practices independently. Throughout the program, I have experienced incredible benefits from being in community with plants through incorporating daily herbal infusions, germinating seeds, purging dangerous cleaning chemicals, tincturing herbal medicine and more.
Gratitude, stewardship, and mindfulness is stressed through the program. Taking the time to slow down and recognize the abundance all around me has been really good for my soul. Building my practice and creating a garden has been a true joy for me in a time of great anxiety and change, and my daily moments with plants have increased my sense of wellbeing and optimism about the future.
Twila and Tamara are both so lovely and very generous with their knowledge! This course is really well organized and logically sequenced. From the online community platform to the monthly Zoom call, I felt completely supported. I feel like much time, care, and attention was spent on creating a course that is both meaningful as well as practical. I know that I will reference the handouts and first aid & winter wellness guidebooks for years to come. Additionally, I really enjoyed learning about the moon, her cycles, and how she affects the growth of herbs. I look forward to getting to know her better with many moon teas to come!
To anyone considering this program:
Absolutely do it! You will not regret it!

I just can't believe how my year has unfolded and my life changed as a result of this program! Because this program was 10 months long, many changes I made were gradual. I have quit drinking diet soda, decreased the amount of coffee I drink, and try to drink filtered+organic whenever I can.
Since starting the Home Herbalist program, I have lost 20 pounds by just being aware of what I am eating. I am taking my health more seriously, and my A1c level has dropped. I have been more relaxed as a result of this program because I have just stopped trying to rush around and actually take in, embrace and appreciate my surroundings.
- Linda S.
The Home Herbalism program taught me many practical ways to work with herbs, but it is so much more... This program has been one huge (virtual) hug of Hope and Healing. As a result of taking the Home Herbalism program offered by Tamara and Twila, for the first time I feel as if I am an Empowered, Active participant in my life and my health. In small ways each day, I feel empowered to make healthy choices for myself and my family. In larger ways each month and throughout the seasons, I feel connected with the rhythms of Mother Nature and feel empowered to be happy and healthy. There are so many layers to learning Home Herbalism, and this program was accessible/practical and at the same time, it illuminated the Magic that is literally at our doorstep, at our feet, each day. Each month there was new inspiration for enjoying Life!

This program has changed my life. No joke. I can't say enough about it. The value far exceeds the cost. The lessons and teachings were very high quality. The boxes of goodies each month were something I looked forward to. I enjoyed connecting with others on this journey in the zooms and the weed walk. I have gained knowledge of herbs and their medicinal properties and uses, which I expected, but this program has been so much more. I have changed my relationship with the natural world, what I see, notice, and prioritize.
- Mary O.
As a result of the HH program, I am more present in the cyclical seasons and have an increased awareness of my surroundings and self. I have more health sovereignty for my family using my own natural remedies and knowledge of preventive practices. This past spring and summer I was able to take on the management of my raised garden beds with more confidence. I also find myself being more creative in the kitchen with spice blends and baking healthy treats. The class provided an invitation to play in the outdoors as an adult...finding plants, noticing the small changes in my backyard. I especially appreciated the book by Twila that accompanies the class and the recorded lessons. I laughed out loud and squealed with delight as I embarked on the experiences in the comfort of my own home. I encourage anyone curious about herbalism or who enjoys natural health and nutrition to enroll in this program. It is extremely approachable, flexible, comprehensive, and fun! I am so glad I did this for myself, my family and my world. I am a better person for it.

We acknowledge we live on the unceded traditional territory of the Osage, Prairie Potawatomi, Kickapoo and Kansa peoples. We honor the elders and original wisdom-keepers of the earth. We are grateful for Indigenous cultures here and worldwide who have generously and graciously shared their wisdom and medicine. May we cultivate a reciprocal, respectful relationship with the earth, our non-human kin and one other.
